Before the Christmas season officially begins, there is that little craze called Halloween. Admittedly, not everyone is a fan of this celebration (if you can call it such) because it usually requires dressing up and creative outfits. Well, if you are one of those with aversion to fashion and anything dressy, here are some ideas for Halloween costumes that will not take too much time:
Fashion era costume
Probably the easiest last-minute costume is that which you pull out off a specific fashion era. We all know that some clothes just go back in fashion after some time. So most likely, people keep their good pair of jeans or floral dresses even if those are not in vogue anymore. This means that whatever is in your parents’ or aunts’ and uncles’ closets would probably count as a costume for the millennial you. Just grab yourself some colorful tights and a bodysuit and you will definitely look like any 80’s icon there is. You can even top it off with equally colorful sneakers and a cool fanny pack. You can go for almost anything as long as not everyone is wearing it these days.
Superhero costume
Another one cliche but superbly reliable costume is that of a superhero. Hello, bodysuit and cape? Just draw some sort of mask on a colored board and you are honestly good to go. Some people just have reservations on this type of costume because, chances are, they will be wearing it along with hundreds more on the streets. But, hey, it would not hurt to have ten Batmans around a trick-or-treating neighborhood, would it? One other reason to hesitate is that superhero costumes don’t actually have room for pockets—which means it’s kind of difficult to bring with you a few items like your phone and wallet. Well, it’s easy. Buy one of those fashion fanny packs and just wrap it around the skintight costume and there you’ll have it: a modern superhero.
Family costume
Well, admit. The one Halloween costume we all go to when all else fail is: a family costume! We grab our kids or younger siblings and pair up with them. Nothing screams cute as much as moms and children wearing the same shirts or dresses. In fact, it has become common in most parties that couples wear matching shirts. When the event is more on families, the parents and the children are almost always in a group theme. You can even dress as The Incredibles! Red all over with eye masks and, well, substitute the showing undies with a stylish fanny pack maybe. You can totally rock this set without so much a hassle you are all camera- and party-ready in an hour.
Chic hard or alternative rock costume
Just as era costumes are always a staple in Halloween parties, so are music-related getups. Some would go as far as dressing like Mozart or Pavarotti in period costumes. But others can pull off simple rock star outfits. Who wouldn’t right? It’s easy enough! You just need a pair of black jeans or tights and a slightly tattered but equally black shirt. You can also make it up on accessories like hard bangles and long neck chains. Studs and faux earrings on your ears and on any part of your face (the nose and tongue are popular points) will no doubt seal the deal for you. Or actually, eyeliner that would make you look like a raccoon will do. You can also invest on a few accessories like those cute fanny packs that are so famous these days.
The staple horror movie character
Of course, it’s Halloween. What is better than being someone that looks literally like a horror movie character? As a matter of a fact, if you so much as happen to have an impromptu Halloween party, the easiest Halloween costume you can easily pull off is that of a zombie or a maimed dead guy. Clothes won’t even be an issue since you would need them as tattered as possible—hello, old camp shirts. Tear it up, puncture holes in it, and put as much grease on it then you can be off dancing!
Halloween is really an interesting holiday. No wonder so much people enjoy it regardless of age. So next time you get an invite to a Halloween-themed party, do not hesitate. There is a wide range of costumes to choose from and it won’t take half the time to put it all together.
